How to recruit Women workers from Nepal

·         Following unfortunate incidents in the past in some Gulf countries, His Majesty’s Government of Nepal has imposed restriction on the recruitment of Nepalese women as housemaids. However, there is no restriction on recruitment of women in other categories.

For the recruitment of other categories of women workers from Nepal, the Department of Labour and Employment Promotion will clear the individual cases only on the recommendation and the guaranty of the Royal Nepalese Embassy. The Immigration authorities will allow boarding the flight to the gulf countries unless the copy of their visa is attested by the Embassy and/or a letter of clearance from the DoLEP is produced. If recruited illegally, the women workers can be denied for any consular services including the renewal of their passport. The recruiting agency/company may also be barred from bringing in any other category of workers, if found involved in illegal recruitment. If any company/ employer intend to recruit the Nepalese women worker; it is also required to follow the procedures in addition to other procedures, e.g. attestation of the Demand Letter, Power of Attorney etc as follows:

·         A separate application to the Embassy.

·         Undertaking a guarantee of security of the women workers.

·         Undertaking of a secure accommodation for her, appropriate according to her status; and meant separately for women workers only.

(The Embassy representative will make a physical inspection of the place of accommodation and, if felt necessary, of the premises of the workplace before giving any clearance for the recruitment).
